What is the difference between HDMI with high-definition transmission and DisplayPort?

Both HDMI and DisplayPort can transmit video and audio bandwidth up to at least 8K resolution. HDMI is mainly used for TV peripherals such as: TVs, projectors, monitors, game consoles, BD players, streaming boxes, etc, while DisplayPort (referred to as DP) is mainly used in PC transmission, such as: screen, laptop, computer, display card, etc.
